Anne recommends listening to the song "Do It Again" by Elevation Worship while reading this blog post.

I’m having a moment here. I’m sitting at my home office desk, and, staring at me, is a picture of my precious dad when he was around 39 years old. Darn good looking man! All kinds of emotions are flooding my heart right now. I miss him. Every day I think about my dad and his last few days here on this side of heaven. I think about how I sat by his bedside for endless hours playing hymns, citing scripture, and just telling him it was ok to let go and fly (he was a fighter pilot) to a new address called "GLORY".

I remember this picture so well because it was a trip that my dad and I took when I was about 13 years old. I was invited on a sailing trip with my dad, his new wife, and a few of his friends. It was a small sailboat sleeping around six of us. One night, a storm blew in and the anchor was not holding. The boat was heading straight towards a large rock and would shatter and sink if the anchor didn't hold. My dad, in the dark stormy seas, jumped overboard. He dove down deep to secure the anchor.

The waves were crashing over the tiny sailboat, and my dad gnashed his head when he tried to climb back aboard. It was quite a scare for us all, but the anchor held, and we were safe and sound.

This makes me think about the anchor of my faith and what keeps me safe in the storms of life. Hebrews 6:19 says, “Our hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls”. Jesus is that anchor of hope. Just like my earthly father jumped in those dark, stormy seas to save my life that night, Jesus jumped in by hanging on a cross for you and for me!

I also think about life, how precious it is, and how fast it zips by! I think about how every day is a gift from God. I want to slow down and seek ways to be a better mother, daughter, wife, boss, and friend because we are not promised tomorrow, only today. I know that, when I surrender my broken heart to God, my dreams, my failures, and my shortcomings, He is going to scoop me up and carry me through. My confidence is in Him and Him alone and His promises stand forever.

I am going to cling to this day with assurance that my God will equip me for whatever comes my way. I am going to cling to His word and His promises. I am going to worship Him and let these words speak to my grieving heart, bringing a sense of peace and joy, knowing that my dad is in a glorious place! Jesus is my anchor of hope and everlasting peace through it all.

“Do it Again” by Elevation Worship lyrics below:

Walking around these walls

I thought by now they'd fall

But You have never failed me yet

Waiting for change to come

Knowing the battle's won

For You have never failed me yet

Your promise still stands

Great is Your faithfulness, faithfulness

I'm still in Your hands

This is my confidence

You've never failed me yet

I know the night won't last

Your word will come to pass

My heart will sing Your praise again

Jesus You're still enough

Keep me within Your love, oh

My heart will sing Your praise again

(Oh, yes, it will)

Your promise still stands

Great is Your faithfulness, faithfulness

I'm still in Your hands

This is my confidence

You've never failed

Your promise still stands

Great is Your faithfulness, faithfulness

I'm still in Your hands

This is my confidence

You've never failed me yet

Never failed me yet

Oh, oh-oh

I've seen You move, You move the mountains

And I believe I'll see You do it again

You made a way, where there was no way

And I believe I'll see You do it again

I've seen You move, You move the mountains

And I believe I'll see You do it again

You made a way, where there was no way

And I believe I'll see You do it again

I've seen You move, You move the mountains

And I believe I'll see You do it again

You made a way, where there was no way

And I believe I'll see You do it again

I'll see You do it again

Your promise still stands

Great is Your faithfulness, faithfulness

I'm still in Your hands

This is my confidence

You've never failed

Your promise still stands

Great is Your faithfulness, faithfulness

I'm still in Your hands

This is my confidence

You've never failed me yet

Oh, You've never failed me yet

And I never will forget

You've never failed me yet

And I never will forget
