A New Year … New Works … and a New Studio/Gallery … I am currently undergoing a rennovation in my studio (hopefully to be completed by the end of this week)   My plan is to have an “Open House”   on   Feb 10th – a little wine and cheese to celebrate the new space and show some new works…stay tuned…if you are in the Charlotte area we’d love for you to stop by (details to follow soon)

I am very grateful for my galleries Anne Irwin Fine Art, Elite Gallery in Carmel, CA and Allison Sprock Fine Art for selling some “Angels” this Christmas season!  What a blessing to have wonderful people passionate about selling ART!

Also working on my new venture “Strokes of Compassion” an art show that will benefit those in need in the Charlotte area.  Last November, we had a very successful show for Presbyterian Hospice raising 10,000 for Hospice Pallative Care.  I am very excited about this and will keep you updated on the shows, charities and ways that you can help the community by being a collector of fine art.

2012 is going to be a very exciting year!  Thank you for your continued support and prayers through this creative journey…and all praise be to GOD who is the greatest creator of them all!  journey…and all praise be to GOD who is the greatest creator of them all!

I have some GREAT shows coming up – one this Friday, September 16th, at Anne Irwin Fine Art “Best of Show” celebrating 25 years! If you are in the Atlanta area – stop by! In November, I will be having a show “Strokes of Compassion” a benefit for Hospice! Stay tuned for details!

Happy Anniversary Mom and Bronson!! Right now I am sitting in a waiting room at MUSC in Charleston, SC waiting…my precious step dad (28 years today) is getting ready for open heart surgery – PLEASE keep him and my family in your prayers for the next few weeks!! My mom’s favorite bird is the cardinal – thought this would be a great little gift for them! Here is a little note I found on the cardinal…

As we observe the cardinal – particularly against the backdrop of the stark winter months, we are reminded that even when things appear bleak or isolated, there is always the presence of beauty, hope, and love. Cardinals encourage us to express our brilliance and reveal our truest selves. Their radiant red is a symbol for us to recognize the gifts in our hearts that we have to give to others in love and friendship.

We LOVE you Mom and Bronson!!!!

In Motion
6×8 Oil

Well, I was not going to paint today – I was going to clean up my studio – I am quite the messy painter!! But as I was going through my photo files, I came across this image of the baseball player. Loved the red and the light…loved the action. Thought I’d give it a quick try using this messy pallet of colors.

This painting was inspired when a dear friend’s son passed away last October. The son – James Harrison – had an incredible vision to equip leaders throughout the world who serve those in need – sharing the message of Jesus Christ. In 2006, James, a young man with a powerful faith and heart to serve, responded to a call to travel to Sudan and because of his passion founded With Open Eyes. I encourage you to click on this link and read about With Open Eyes. 50% of proceeds from these prints will go back to With Open Eyes. There are only a limited number! Purchase a print and know that you have helped in building an army of messengers in the Sudan!

Matthew 28:19-20
“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

This weekend we are stuffing 75+ stockings and preparing gifts for 10 families served by The Harvest Center. It’s not too late to help! You can donate to our shopping fund, help us shop, bring the family to wrap on Saturday, or donate hats, gloves, socks and stocking stuffers.

Thanks for your support of our needy neighbors this Christmas!

Ellie-Painting-250I had the privilege of having 8-year-old Artist Ellie Potvin and her mother Amy in the studio on Dec 14 for an oil painting lesson and a few fun hours at the easel. Ellie is a beautiful, creative girl suffering from Stage 4 Relapse Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare childhood cancer. I have been following Ellie through her CaringBridge website and have been praying for the Potvin Family.

Two of Ellie’s paintings have been reproduced as limited edition high quality giclee prints (courtesy of Chromatype) are available online at and in Charlotte at Studio 21 Fine Art (118 E Kingston Avenue) and my local gallery Sophia’s Gallery (1528 East Blvd). We look forward to offering additional prints soon — she revisits the studio for another session this week!

Please remember sweet Ellie in your prayers.

ellieshoalOur hearts are grieving. Ellie Shoal Potvin gained her angel wings on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 following a two-year battle with Rhabdomysarcoma, a rare pediatric cancer. This weekend we celebrated Ellie’s short, beautiful life with her twin sister Grace, her incredible parents Amy and Tim, and hundreds of others touched by her light.

Ellie’s creative spirit lives on in her artwork. Limited Edition prints from four of her oil paintings are available, including Ellie’s final painting, a cheery sunflower titled “All Things Bright and Beautiful”. 100% of proceeds benefit “Lift Up Ellie”, a supplemental needs trust that assists the family with medical expenses.

You can find the story of Ellie’s journey on her CaringBridge website.
