MEET ELLIE POTVIN

Dec 14, 10

Ellie-Painting-250I had the privilege of having 8-year-old Artist Ellie Potvin and her mother Amy in the studio on Dec 14 for an oil painting lesson and a few fun hours at the easel. Ellie is a beautiful, creative girl suffering from Stage 4 Relapse Rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare childhood cancer. I have been following Ellie through her CaringBridge website and have been praying for the Potvin Family.

Two of Ellie’s paintings have been reproduced as limited edition high quality giclee prints (courtesy of Chromatype) are available online at anneneilsonfinart.com and in Charlotte at Studio 21 Fine Art (118 E Kingston Avenue) and my local gallery Sophia’s Gallery (1528 East Blvd). We look forward to offering additional prints soon — she revisits the studio for another session this week!

Please remember sweet Ellie in your prayers.

ELLIE SHOAL POTVIN, 2001-2010f

Jun 29, 10

ellieshoalOur hearts are grieving. Ellie Shoal Potvin gained her angel wings on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 following a two-year battle with Rhabdomysarcoma, a rare pediatric cancer. This weekend we celebrated Ellie’s short, beautiful life with her twin sister Grace, her incredible parents Amy and Tim, and hundreds of others touched by her light.

Ellie’s creative spirit lives on in her artwork. Limited Edition prints from four of her oil paintings are available, including Ellie’s final painting, a cheery sunflower titled “All Things Bright and Beautiful”. 100% of proceeds benefit “Lift Up Ellie”, a supplemental needs trust that assists the family with medical expenses.

You can find the story of Ellie’s journey on her CaringBridge website.

Allegro Foundation ….a Champion for Children with Disabilities was invited this month to Washington, DC by the Ambassador of Monaco, Gilles Noghès to celebrate the anniversary of the Accession to the Throne of His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco. Allegro was invited to this extraordinary event because of the work they do for Children with Disabilities. The Royal Family of Monaco is especially interested in children with disabilities and have been following the work of the Charlotte-based organization.

It was an honor and privilege to partner with Allegro Foundation to create three paintings from our popular Angel series for His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, Ambassador Gilles Noghès and Counselor Lorenzo Ravano. I was honored to spend a day with Denver Moore and Ron Hall, authors of NYT Bestseller Same Kind of Different As Me, and guest speakers at “Carry The Torch – Knoxville”, an event hosted by Volunteer Ministry Center on May 12 to raise awareness and financial support for Knoxville’s homeless. Over 1,000 people attended.
